      Hare Krishna dear Devotees,

      Please accept my humble obeisances!

      All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

In these 4 months all Demigods and Lord Vishnu goes to sleep or take rest. Each food in our body is digested only with the help of some particular Demigod by the will of Lord Vishnu - Paramatma. And if these days we eat milk we won't get much benefit even thou it is most pure product. It is also says that this month mostly cows get child and some kind of changes will be there in their milk.

in the first month we were recommended not to eat leafy products because that was a season. and it says that when we eat them in the season we will become bewildered by their fresh taste and forget Vishnu satisfying our tongue.

Not to cut nails and hair - the main thing is not only not cutting nails and hair but to not loose time for taking care of this body. but be fully be engaged in the service of the Lord. The same thing with the meal once a day plus not with hands but with mouth directly from the floor.

      sleeping on the ground.

these 4 months of rainy season are recommended not to preach because of rain, but to be engaged with one's own bhajan.

But Srila Prabhupada says that for ISKCON Devotees no need to follow chaturmasya, but Ekadashi, minimum 16 rounds and 4 regulative principles are enough for going back to Godhead.

Nagender Rao Prabhu, yogurt is just a curd made of milk.

urad dal is mostly seen in India, it is similar to mung dal which is green but urad is white and very rich for proteins. It is recommended to consume not much protein in order less to be the victim of lust.

  • Hare Krishna Prabhuji,

Chatur masa is one type of austerity prescribed in scriptures and Gaudiya vaishnavas observe this fast to the best of their ability.

Restricted foods in all the four months are eggplant, tomato, loki, parmal, urud dhal and honey.

First month: No leafy vegetables, such as spinach, salads of all types,
cabbages of all types, kale, leafy herbs like coriander, mint, parsley, curry and
    powdered leafy herbs and teas
Second month: No yoghurt of any type.
Third month: No milk in any form.

Fourth month: No mustard oil or sesame seeds or urud dal.

Devotees do not share or cut nails for these four months.

Hope I have clarified your point.
