Confused

Hare Krishna. PAMHO. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

I have read about the story of Ekadasi. And it is said there that Lord Vishnu had been fighting a demon called Mura for thousand celestial years. But Lord Vishnu was fatigued and went to rest in a cave and He was found sleeping. This has been bothering me but does the Lord ever get fatigued? Why does He need to sleep and rest?

Forgive me if I have been offensive.

Hari Bol!

In many instances from the puranas, we notice that Lord Vishnu fights some demons for thousands of years and after vanquishing them takes rest to overcome his faitgue and sleeps(it is not exactly the same as our sleep but yoganidra which is like samadhi..abiding in oneself). In one such instance, the demons Madhu and Kaitaba came are said to have come from his ears during one of his 'resting times'. They threaten Brahmaji and as Vishnu was in his yoganidra, Brahmaji invokes the Goddess Mahamaya who awakens Vishnu and Vishnu fights them. Later, Mahamaya arouses such ego in the demons that they tell Vishnu that they are ready to grant any boon asked by Vishnu. Vishnu makes use of this situation and asks for their death by Vishnu's hands. Thus ends Vishnu's pastime with Madhu-Kaitaba demons :-)

In service of the Supreme and the bhakthas,
