I was surprised that officially in India, cow slaughter is allowed. I was in Chennai last year and in Taj Connemara, they were serving beef! I was shcoked to see it. I could not eat properly and during my entire stay, one of the cooks helped me by preparing my meal separately. I wish I knew a place where I could get veggie food without hot spices.
How can we stop it, at least in India? Please come up with your thoughts. I hope it is not common in hotels in India. Can someone confirm? (years ago, it was not even thinkable.).

Yes, unfortunately only in Karnataka state of India to kill cows is forbidden but in other places it is allowed.
We can stop it only by increasing the size of Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON oasis all around the world. To stop in India it is already impossible only way is promoting the Jaiva Dharma.

we can stop or at least decrease this number only preaching the glories of the Holy Names and giving to people real life. real happiness. There is no other way.

there are other ways...........
like for city people we can start business of cow ghee and capable devotees may finance it (one can finance one specific cow for life**** by yearly paying her maintainance and receive returns in terms of cowdung cakes, cowurin and ghee, sweets , paneer, .....) and some may take care of labor activities and in return we shall provide cow ghee as dividend to share holders. i mean instead of purchasing buffalo ghee from outside we can do this.
actually i have open space near Mumbai (karjat) but due to finance issues i am not able to start , pls bless me.

yes, You are very true! We can not force them not to kill cows but we can glorify cow and cow products actively. And that is true if each family would adopt a cow in one of ISKCON farm communities then we would have more cows and ghee.

Yes, a person performs sinful activities, when he is not in knowledge. It is only through preaching and making people Krishna conscious , we can stop this kind of barbaric act. Government is not going to stop, because they do every activity by keeping vote bank in mind.
