    Hare Krsna Mario Prabhu,

    PAMHO.

First of all welcome back to Krsna Consciousness prabhu.

Where on earth did you lay your hands on that in New Mexico - you seem to be very resourceful. And your parents supportive, you are barely a teenager and introducing them to something so alien to them and they are ok? How did you come to Krsna Consciousness prabhu?

To answer your question, you can use this chandan in the interim, but this is ideally to be used for the deities. If you have a photograph in your altar, you could mix some of this powder with a little water and put one dot on the forehead of the deity every morning. Next morning, you ahve to wipe it with wet cloth or wet tissue, then again mix some chandan and water and put on the forehead. Typically, we use this chandan for Krsna and Kumkum for Radhika.

You could also apply water tilak all over your body in the interim like I told you earlier for the face only.

Dont worry, Krsna sees your desire to serve Him, not the instruments with which you are serving Him.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi

I am of personal opinion to take a stick of pure sandalwood and make paste by rubbing it with some force on some object. And use it for tilak.Gopi chandan is a subsitute used for tilak.
