Not only mridanga, but any paraphernalia associated with Lords service is Balaram

In CC, its said "Asan Netai/ Boson Netai...." meaning the seat of Mahaprabhu is Nityananda, the dress of Mahaprabhu is Nityananda.

Just on the top of my mind I remember a pastime of Sri Sri 108 Ramdas Babaji Maharaj that happened in Kolkata. Once during Jhulan Festival. First they took lord Nityanada prabhu and kept him on swing then Sri Sri 108 Ramdas Babaji Maharaj was coming out with Lord Gauranga and other devotees were sprinkling ganga water, suddenly one devotee saw a broom lying and kicked it out of way with his feet. Babaji maharaj saw this and took an about turn and went inside alter and locked himself and Lord Gauranga. He was very upset after lot of pleading he came out, everybody asked what was the matter. He said, my disciples kicked nityananda today. everybody was shocked how is that possible. He said as i was coming with Lord Gauranga, Lord Nityananda was offering obeisances, even the broom that cleans lords alter is Netai... and you just cannot show disrespect to anything cause everything is in service of Lord and everything is Nityananda.

so the teaching he imparted that day is every paraphernalia used for the service of Lord is balaram
