When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
In 2002 I was suffering from chronic hyperchondria. I was working at a spiritual retreat center at the time and had noticed a business card posted in the office ("chant Hare Krishna and your life will be sublime!"). I had always been a George Harrison fan and I had just started reading "Chant and Be Happy"... so with the sign of the business card I started chanting. Two weeks later my hyperchondria was gone - the negative, destructive thoughts being replaced by the glorious maha mantra.
Name the nearest and most frequently Visited ISKCON temple/ centre and name few of the devotees whom you know.
The nearest locations are Gita Nagari in Port Royal PA and the temple in Philadelphia, PA. I have recently written to Gita Nagari in hopes they may be able to connect me with some devotees.
Please describe yourself so that other like minded devotees can find you.
I have been a student of Prabhupada's writings for over six years and have been chanting for almost as long. I am now at the point where I would like to start to associate with devotees to further my understanding and to find some like-minded people. I also have a strong desire to learn more about cooking prasadam (Indian style). My material interests include art and music.
What are your expectations from this community?
My only expectation is to find fellow Krishna followers at or around my level of experience to learn with.
Describe any specific service you would love to offer to Lord Krishna & His devotees?
Anything I am able to do I'd be happy to do -- and I would even attempt things I can't do! :)

I'd love to see the Bhaktivedanta Manor sometime. It looks amazing. I'm already planning on staying a few days at the Palace of Gold... I need one to let the "excited tourist" state of mind run its course... haha... so that I enjoy some peace and tranquility in order to chant japa on the same land that Prabhupada walked not so long very ago.
I do enjoy the association with Prabhupada and it does feel very real (as, of course it is). A few years ago I bought the complete Prabhupada video library on DVD, what a great treasure! Every day I find myself devoting a few hours either reading his words or, if I'm feeling in more of a "couch potato" mood, watching the Prabhupada DVDs. Sweet nectar indeed!
=] i didn't want to come over patronising at all, and youv'e probably been chanting pancha tattva for years, i made contact with a devotee at the bhaktivedanta manor in England, he runs the bhakta course here, he invited me up to stay in the guesthouse, and i did a little with the cows there. Absolute Bliss. Now i'm infected, i dream of their lordships and being in their presence 24/7. Their form ,mesmerising in whatever material, iv'e seen paper machie deities that never fail to impress.
You allways have the association of srila prabhupada, through his books, there is an old vaishnava saying i found that reminds me whenever i want to be in the association of his divine grace. It goes: He reasons ill who tells that Vaishnavas die
When thou art living still in sound.
The Vaishnavas die to live and living try
To spread the holy name around!..
There are loads of recordings on desire tree with lectures, chanting japa etc.
I reccomend going to the temple, as soon as! you will be enchanted, and encouraged to carry on in devotional serivce.

Haribol Haribol! I am new(ish) to the hare krsna movement like you, i strted reading in 2004 and it has thaken me until this summer to make any contact with devotees. i love that youv'e been blessed with such a obvious sign to associate with lord krishna, it's amazing to read your story so far. If i might share an experience with you that improved my chanting endlessly; Chanting the Pancha Tattva mantra; "Jaya sri krishna chaitanya pabhu nityananda sri advaita gadadhara srivasadi gaura bhakta vrinda" It is chanted at the beggining of each time you go round on beads. Chanting this mantra you are taking shelter of chaitanya mahaprabhu, lord nityananda and their associates. it is the vaishnava view that they are the most merciful incarnations of god, taking shelter of them, your offenses like being disracted,mis-pronunciation.etc are absolved by the pure devotees, making your chanting improve endlessly.
Hope this finds you well ,and offends nobody.
