We only take the Tulasi leaf when it is in preparation, after offering. I understand we are to accept as mercy from the Lord, as spiritual benefit. I am wondering about taking with expectation of physical benefit. We get physical benefit from food preparations, we expect spiritual benefit from taking prasadam. - When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
- when I was younger, my mother mentioned "Hare Krishna" many times, then I painted simple painting of Lord Nrsimha. Years later, a client of mine recommended a vegetarian restaurant (Kalachandji's restaurant at the Dallas temple), when I went there I was impressed by the devotees. I kept in contact for some time, asking questions, and offered food on a simple altar. In 2002 a man, who was supposed to take care of me when I was ill, struck me while I lay in the bed, severely injuring and leaving me to die. I knew I had to get in contact with devotees. Devotees from Dallas temple brought incense, garlands, pictures of Krishna, prasadam, ganga water, carnmrita, and tulasi leaves. Mahat Tattva in California sent a package of cassette tapes, including maha mantra. After carnmrita, speaking to devotees, and listening to the mantra, an ambulance took me to the hospital. I listened to the tapes and the Lord's names 24/7 by headphones on an auto-reverse player.
Have been attending Dallas temple since Jan 2004. I met HH Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaj April 10 2005.
I was engaged to Vidagdha Madhava prabhu ("Music" on Desire Tree Network) since 2007. We served with Food For Life together, and constructed a Ratha Yatra parade cart. He has many years with the temple here, and has been very helpful instructing me.
Vidagdha and I had garland exchange ceremony at the end of July 2010. He left his body December 10, 2010.

This was in regard to the different age of Krsna and his dearmost freinds. This subjeci is so sweetly descrbed in The Nectar of Devotion. This age of the souls in Krsnas lilas are eternal. And to say there is no such spiritual age is rather impersonal. This impersonal veiw I felt was given too much emphasis and therefore I sought to bring a more personalist presentation. Unfortunatly It was not so welcomed and I feared I may be expecting too much from the others who began to ridicule the very idea that the soul has an age. Also so many misunderstaning regarding the use of english came up in the effort to support strongly held impersonal explanations of the Gita. I was not wanting a debate so I discontinued in case there maybe critisism of such personalism. What I hoped would be a nice disscision regarding the spiritual form of Krsna was not to be. I feel because you didnt make any comments you may be dissapointed. I appologise, but I feel I must keep my heart hidden from the harsh sceptics who fail to comprhend that they do have an eternal age. Recently I was telling a freind about the disscusion and he assured me that i was right to present the purely peronal veiwpoint. So Bhaktin Carol Please tell me what do you think? Was it so difficult to understand?

Reading your discussion regards "'why is a vow taken for no illicit relations?' is sad although Im NOT surprised that several people have told u things that leave u perplexed. I have walked in your shoes before. Only that our levels make the bigger difference, I was lucky enough that I wasnt prosecuted with double standards for matajis in marital affairs because im still single. There was in certain directions I was actively wanting to serve Krsna in the late 90s when there were eyes set just to corner matajis who did better. Believe me when I say there has even been trying to sexual assault and cooly getting away with it since "The Maharajs wont believe you, because you are a woman and that Prabhupada has said in the SB woman are considered to be Sudras and can do anything to bring a devotee down" Yes !! it happened and I used to feel sorry for myself and others who dare not speak of these. From just wanting to go nagar sangkirtan, to learn how to play mrdangga etc.. there were a handful of people who went "this is not right, that is not right" for a mataji.
Anyways back to my point, Krsna personally says "Im equal to all" and for tht reason please remember you are a part and parcel of Krsna.
There are more than a handful of matajis I know out here who are living by themselves and are serving Krsna, they are living a life of a nun though most of them are elderly, the younger devotees do not want anything to do with man unless they have to communicate with them for KC purpose. The whole world can throw garbage at you yet the truth is known best between you and Krsna - ultimate destiny.
So do not worry and get yourself confused. Ignore all these fools who waste your time ridiculing your passion to serve Krsna the way u want. For every 5 who discourages you, there will be 20 with proper knowledge carrying you up.
